Premier Soccer Services (PSS) is a group that organizes soccer tournaments. Most recently PSS held the Open Cup in Decatur, AL, where they saw over 200 teams from 10 different states and 3 different countries. After the success of the Open Cup (held in April) as well as the success of the Southern Regionals, PSS has decided to organize an additional soccer tournament in Tennessee.

This year, PPS will be hosting the first ever Tennessee Cup. Scott Spencer, the President of Premier Soccer Services, says that “after the successes of the Southern Regionals that were held at Siegel Park in Murfreesboro, we [PPS] began negotiations with the city of Murfreesboro to bring a major youth soccer tournament to the area. The city of Murfreesboro, parks and recreation, and the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau partnered with PSS to create an incredible Labor Day tournament.”

This tournament, the Tennessee Cup, will be held in Murfreesboro and will utilize the amazing facilities at Siegel Park, which hosted the USYS Southern Regional Championships last year in 2011. Spencer says that “with 18 different soccer fields being used at Siegel Park, there will be flexibility in scheduling. Coaches or directors coaching multiple teams won’t have to race all over to find their matches.”

In addition to utilizing the facilities at Siegel Park, the Tennessee Cup will also be making use of some other unique facilities. As an add-on to the tournament, PSS will be having an exclusive water park party at the Sports Com Waterpark for all tournament teams. Over the weekend, after all the games are over and the players have fought their hearts out, the water park will be open for all the Tennessee Cup players.

The 3.6 million dollar water park facility will have a lot to offer attendees, including pools, water slides, rope monkey bars, diving boards, and climbing walls. The water park party will be an exciting and enjoyable addition to the competitive tournament. “It’s exciting to have an exclusive water park party as a component of the soccer tournament,” says Spencer.

The Tennessee Cup will be held in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, from August 31 through September 3, 2012. The tournament has been marketed regionally and internationally to bring in a diverse group of teams from over ten states as well as some international teams to compete against. The tournament is structured so that every team will be guaranteed four games. There will be two groups of four teams for round robin play throughout the tournament and then there will be placement matches to finish the tournament on the final day, Monday Sep. 3.

The registration deadline is July 25, 2012. For more information, visit www.premiersoccerservices.com or register interest with the tournament director at tournamentdirector@premiersoccerservices.com.
